I’m With The Band(eau)

August 27, 2014

Young Hollywood turned out for the awards ceremonies this week, and the accessory of choice was a toned midsection.

The VMA’s drew an edgier crowd, with black leather playing a starring role.

Miley rocked a leather bandeau with high waisted leather pants, for a look that was sexy and age appropriate.

She also stole the show for a second year in a row, shedding last year’s raunchy image for a surprising show of humanity when a homeless youth accepted her award, bringing awareness to the cause.

Lucy Hale mixed her leather halter top with a full black skirt for a look that was “a little bit country, and a little bit rock and roll.”

Kendall Jenner added a sheer layer over her black bra and high rise trousers, creating a look that was youthful and tasteful. She and her sister Kim texting during the silent tribute to the residents of Ferguson, was not.

The following night, Sarah Hyland took the trend to a more formal and demure place, with her white cropped top and orange princess style skirt.

She Can’t Stop ( but maybe she should)

August 26, 2013

Miley Cyrus was the talk of the VMA’s last night. Her pitchy singing was completely overshadowed by her cringe worthy performance. Tongue out, twerking with people dressed as teddy bears, and rubbing up against a large bottomed African American woman, the display was more in poor taste than ground breaking. Her choice of all black dancers was in essence as racist as Paula Deen wanting only black servers to work at her southern themed party.

Stripping off her ill fitting fuzzy teddy, and continuing only in a nude colored bra and panties, she proceeded to “duet” with Robin Thicke, if you can count rubbing up against his crotch and pretending (?) to pleasure herself with a large foam finger a duet.

The Internet was instantly buzzing with negative reactions to her act, ranging from mortified moms to bored 30-somethings, and appalled people of all ages who were shocked by her misplaced sexuality, and tasteless behavior.

The following day brought even more discussion, with all of the websites and daytime talk shows going on and on about how inappropriate she was. For a young woman starving for attention, and trying to break out of a squeaky clean image, we would venture to say that her performance was extremely successful.

While she walked out of the awards show empty handed, she is getting more media attention than any of the winners. Isn’t that what she wanted in the first place?

What did you think of Miley’s raunchy performance last night?

Pretty in Punk

May 9, 2013

Monday night marked the annual “Met Ball,” honoring the opening of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s latest exhibition entitled Punk: From Chaos to Couture.

Much speculation lead up to the event, as to how the theme would be handled by the revelers, hand selected by Vogue’s high priestess herself, Anna Wintour.

Well, today we have the answer, and in most cases, it was handled poorly.

While a few went all out, (Madonna you go girl!) many opted for odd choices that left them looking awkward and uncomfortable. Below are some of our favorites, who embraced the movement and looked pretty in punk:

And after couture came utter chaos. What made these attractive young women embrace old age, instead of punk?

The grande dame of the evening may have inadvertently been the most punk of all. While others tried to conform to societal expectations, Ms.Wintour bucked the norm, and showed up in a demure floral Chanel gown. What looked the least in keeping with the theme, may just have out- punked everyone.
