Happily Ever After?

August 11, 2011

Betty Confidential and The New York Daily News report that there is a petition circulating to get Sesame Street to marry off Bert and Ernie.
For years there has been speculation that the 2 male BFF’s who share a home, and a rubber ducky, have been gay.

Over 3300 people have signed the petition promoting the idea of gay marriage and tolerance.

The folks at Sesame Street have issued a statement:

“ Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves.  Even though the Sesame Street Muppets possess many  human traits and characteristics, they have no sexual orientation.“

A Long Time Coming

July 26, 2011

I couldn’t resist posting this photo of the elderly couple who was the first to marry yesterday, when same sex couples were allowed to legally wed in New York. Clearly, this was a long time coming for these ladies, who are 76 and 84 years old respectively. Congratulations to all and may we look forward to a day when we refer to gay marriage as just “a wedding”!
