Loafing Around

August 24, 2015

We love borrowing from the boys. Slouchy sweaters, crisp button downs, tailored blazers; we like taking the classics and adding a quirky twist to make it our own. Footwear is no exception. This fall, its time for our beloved oxfords to move over just a titch, and make room for the triumphant return of the loafer.

In recent seasons we have seen the rise of slipper shapes and slip on sneakers, but the newest iteration is actually based on the oldest one; the quintessential penny loafer. The back to school staple lives on in upscale skins and new colorations.

Menswear checks and colored leather loafers are a match made in sartorial heaven. A hint of patent, or a new twist on the metal horse bit modernizes the look. Gucci got in the game by reinventing their iconic loafer as a mule, lined in fur.

Mid-Year Resolution

September 5, 2013

4731900183Most people think of January as a time to reset, re-evaluate and resolve to make lifestyle changes. Others think of the spring as a time of renewal.

I relate September to new beginnings. It is a period when the lazy days of summer are behind us, and things start to get serious again.

Today marks the start of the international Fashion Weeks, the first day of school and the celebration of the Jewish New Year. Crisper weather is around the corner, and our activities and wardrobe will soon change accordingly.
Why not take a moment today to assess your life and recommit to your health, your happiness or to your chasing your dreams?

After all, what are you waiting for?

Project Snowflake Update

January 4, 2013
My desk at the office, filled with snowflakes!

My desk at the office, filled with snowflakes!

Yesterday marked the return to school for the Sandy Hook Elementary students. Housed in a new facility in the town of Monroe, Connecticut, the new building represents a fresh start for the children who survived the violent attack last month.

The local PTA planned to decorate the building with handmade paper snowflakes to welcome the children to their new environment.

We put out the word, and people responded. Officials stated that they had received an overwhelming amount of snowflakes from all over the world. Enough they said, to blanket the entire town of Newtown. There was love and support in each one.

Thanks to all who participated in making the day just a little bit brighter for these kids.
