This has been a confusing fashion month. Between the “see now, buy now, wear now” concept, and all of the designer shake-ups, it’s hard to tell what season it is, and what house the collection is from. With all of the uncertainty, one message came through loud and clear from Paris this weekend: You’ve got to have a pink dress.
While I would hardly call pink the color of the season, it seems that it is de riguour for a dresses. And special ones at that.
At Celine, Phoebe Philo showed a dramatic pepto pink dress with a capelike effect coming from the draped hemline.
For Pierpaolo Piccioli’s first solo collection at Valentino, pink played a major role. Here, a pleated dress gets a bright accent at the neckline.
There were also 1920’s inspired shapes, layered over deeper tones.
In contrast to all the retro fluidity, Piccioli added a shocking pink cape dress, in a more modern and structured cut.
John Galliano went sheer, with this ladylike silhouette shown over matching pink lingerie.
With new designer Gemna Gvasalia of Vetements at the helm, Balenciaga kept it bright with thier modestly cut pink dress, slit up the side and shown over purple spandex boot | pants.
At Givenchy, Riccardo Tischi showed a simply cut hot pink satin dress layered over a sheer tank dress.
