It’s only been a few days since New York Fashion Week began, but already some trends are starting to emerge.
Fringe showed up on many catwalks, ranging from long fringe, to “eyelash” treatments and frayed edges.
Creatures of Comfort layered fringed knits over crisp cotton shirts:
Ulla Johnson also fringed her sweaters, worn atop easy wide legged pants:
Tibi added placed fringe to their lean pencil skirt:
Can’t wait to add this look to your wardrobe? No worries! Do as Rachel Comey and Ulla Johnson did, and fray the edges of your pants to get a jumpstart on the trend.
DIY: Cut off the hem of your jeans or heavy weight cotton bottoms. For a more refined look, stitch along the edge about 3/8″ up from the bottom to prevent the fabric from unravelling further during wear. Toss them in the washing machine, and trim the edges to take off the super long pieces and you’re good to go!
